Meowing sometimes has a space-warping effect. This is illustrated by Klaudia Koleszár’s furry entities as well—compressed into undulating, darting silhouettes behind a distorting lens.

The Cat Choir is primarily a painterly event: despite every cat hashtag, meme, and the endlessly recycled cat stars of the nostalgia industry, Klaudia places the emphasis on the wailing intensity of the surface and the purring presence of the paint material itself.

In her works, not only is the familiar image of the cat dismantled, but when examining the panels we can also encounter abstract moments infused with dry humor. Within these, the anthropomorphic fables of the .jpeg files circulating on the internet are overwritten, and contemplation inevitably becomes mixed with amusement—but that is simply how it goes: the cat likes to play with us.
